Meet the Doctors

  • Emily Evans BVM&S

    Service region: Richmond

    Emily Evans, BVM&S is a graduate of the University of Richmond and the University of Edinburgh’s Royal School of Veterinary Studies in Scotland. Dr. Evans is a Virginia native who has been in private small animal practice in Northern Virginia since 2010. She was managing Medical Director of a multi-doctor practice before joining MiVU in 2018.

    Dr. Evans has always had a strong interest in ultrasound as a diagnostic tool and enjoys collaborative patient care. She has attended the Academy of Veterinary Imaging in Arlington, Texas for numerous hours of training and has been directly mentored by the MiVU veterinarian team. Dr. Evans and her husband have three daughters, two dogs and a small flock of chickens.

  • Meredith Adams DVM

    Service region: Richmond

    Meredith Adams, DVM was born and raised in the Richmond, VA area. She received her bachelors of science from Virginia Tech in 2007 and graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary of Medicine with her veterinary degree in 2011. After a year in general practice in Illinois, Dr. Adams moved to the Washington, DC area. She spent the next 9 years practicing small animal emergency medicine at an emergency hospital in Rockville, MD where she also served as medical director for about 2 years. She developed an interest in ultrasound while using it to reach quick and life saving diagnoses in her ER patients. She joined MIVU in August 2021 and has completed numerous hours of training at Sound Academy of Veterinary Imaging in Texas and Universal Imaging in New York as well as one on one training alongside her MiVU colleagues.

    Dr. Adams now lives in Henrico with her husband, two young sons, and their cat Henry. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, singing and playing the piano, and exploring new restaurants.

  • Danny Laderberg DVM

    Service region: Hampton and Virginia Beach

    A local to the Hampton Roads area, Dr. Laderberg was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia. His passion for veterinary medicine started as a teenager, volunteering at the Virginia Zoo. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from The University of Alabama (Roll Tide!), and continued on to receive his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.

    After earning his DVM, Dr. Laderberg moved back to the Hampton Roads area to start his career in emergency medicine. It is through emergency medicine that he cultivated a passion for ultrasound and continued his ultrasound training through WAVE and the Academy of Veterinary Imaging. Dr. Laderberg joined the MiVU team in 2023 and is excited to help make ultrasound more accessible to the Hamptons Roads Area!

    Dr. Laderberg lives in Chic’s Beach with his wife (also a local veterinarian) and newborn son, Sean! Outside of work, he enjoys many hobbies including woodworking, cycling, and chess.

  • Connie Shang DVM

    FOUNDER

    Dr. Connie Shang DVM is the dedicated owner of MiVU PLLC, a venture she established in August 2012. Recognizing the crucial need for accessible diagnostic ultrasound services for veterinarians, Dr. Shang has propelled MiVU to serve over 400 hospitals with a team of seven highly-trained veterinarians specializing in ultrasound.

    Dr. Shang graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004 and spent eight years practicing in a small animal hospital in Northern Virginia. It was during this time that she embarked on her journey with ultrasounds, a passion that led her to refine her sonographic skills through extensive ultrasound focused continuing education. To further enhance her expertise, Dr. Shang underwent intensive training under the mentorship of Dr. Marty Henderson, the visionary behind SonoVet, a mobile ultrasound practice in the Greater San Antonio area.

    Today, Dr. Shang and The MiVU Team are transforming veterinary care by bringing state-of-the-art diagnostic ultrasound services directly to practices in the VA/DC/MD region, Richmond, VA, and Virginia Beach. With each passing year, MiVU's footprint continues to expand, offering invaluable diagnostic ultrasound support to both general practitioners and specialists.

    Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Shang cherishes quality time with her husband, Jarrett, her sons Austin and Waylon, and her four-legged companions, May and June (her beloved black labs) and Ronnie (her naughty orange tabby cat).
